Editorial Governance

Malton London Press’s editorial governance separates scholarly decisions from Book Processing Charges and commercial administration. Editors assess the suitability of projects, appoint qualified reviewers for the relevant route, oversee revisions and record the reasons for publication decisions.

Editorial contact

Ivan Mieres Suarez is the editorial contact for Malton London Press and manages communication with authors, editors and reviewers. Enquiries about proposals, editorial policies or the assessment process should be sent to info@maltonlondonpress.com and marked for his attention. He will refer a matter to a qualified editor where his own involvement would create a conflict of interest.

Responsibilities of appointed editors

Editors work within their subject expertise, declare competing interests and protect confidential information. A handling editor follows the assessment route stated for the publication type and checks that outstanding review issues have been addressed. Editors must not promise acceptance in exchange for payment, a purchase commitment or promotional support.

Responsibilities of the editorial board

Where a board is appointed, its role is to advise on scholarly scope, standards and the development of the publishing programme. Membership does not mean that a member has reviewed or endorsed every publication. A book’s handling editor and its actual assessment record determine accountability for that publication.

Appointments and public information

We publish the name, agreed role, current affiliation and subject expertise of appointed board members with their consent. Institutional affiliations identify professional backgrounds and do not imply that those institutions own, sponsor or endorse the Press. Membership records are updated when an appointment or affiliation changes.

Independence in conflicted cases

A submission authored or edited by a member of the editorial team is assigned to an unconflicted handling editor. The interested person does not appoint reviewers or make the publication decision. A complaint concerning an editor is handled by someone independent of the matter. Where necessary, an external specialist is appointed for that case.
