Open Access Policy

Malton London Press makes its open access publications available to read and download without a subscription, purchase requirement or compulsory account. Each publication page identifies the free digital formats available and links to the full text. A print edition may be sold separately without restricting access to the open access digital edition.

Reuse and author rights

Open access publications carry a stated Creative Commons licence. The specific licence is agreed in the publishing agreement and displayed in the publication and its online record. Readers must follow that licence when sharing or adapting the work. Free access does not mean that every title has identical reuse conditions.

Authors retain copyright in their original work and grant the Press the rights needed to publish and distribute the agreed edition. Rights in third-party material remain with the relevant rights holders unless explicitly stated otherwise. Our Licensing and Copyright page explains the licences used in the catalogue.

Book Processing Charges

Our Book Processing Charges page gives the standard BPC by publication type, scope limits, included services and the rules for discounts. A reader does not pay the author’s BPC. Editorial decisions follow the stated assessment process and are separate from financial administration. A payment does not purchase a favourable decision.

Repositories and access

Authors may deposit the published open access version in an institutional or subject repository without a publisher embargo, subject to the work’s licence and any clearly identified third-party exclusions. Deposits should preserve the citation, licence statement and DOI or permanent publication link. The repository may apply its own deposit and preservation requirements.

Access continuity

Our Digital Preservation and Archiving page explains the distinction between publisher hosting, repository copies and independently verified preservation. We identify external preservation coverage only where an arrangement and deposit can be confirmed. If access to a publication fails, contact info@maltonlondonpress.com with its title or DOI.

Indexing and discoverability

We prepare publication metadata to support discovery and citation. A DOI is a persistent identifier and does not mean that a work is included in a selective index. Indexing services make their own decisions. We do not guarantee inclusion in Google Scholar, DOAB, OAPEN, Scopus, Web of Science or any other database. Any claim of inclusion must identify a verifiable record.
