Abstract

This study conducts a narrative literature review of journal articles and institutional reports examining the influence of social media on the political and civic engagement of young people in the Moroccan context. Sixteen works published between 2015 and 2025 were selected and analyzed. The review identifies and categorizes the main themes, theoretical frameworks, and methodological approaches mobilized in the literature, and synthesizes the dominant research streams shaping the field. The findings indicate that research on this topic in Morocco is emerging, but remains fragmented and methodologically limited. The review therefore emphasizes the need to strengthen theoretical integration and adopt more diversified methodological approaches to better understand youth political engagement dynamics in the Moroccan context. The paper contributes by mapping the current state of research and identifying key gaps for future studies on social media and youth political engagement in Morocco.
